The Legendary Fisherman

I had a judge tell me last weekend that The Legendary Fisherman had an errata placed on his text. He said that because of this, if the Legendary Fisherman is the only monster on the field, then my opponent CAN NOT attack directly. I disagreed with him on this and pointed out what the UDE website had to say about it under COMMAND KNIGHT, but he said that that wasn't accurate any longer. Is this true?

actually, The Legendary Fisherman cannot be attacked ever, look at the latest updated text:

As long as "Umi" is face-up on the field, this card is unaffected by any Spell Cards. Monsters on your opponent's side of the field cannot select this card as an attack target.
The "can't attack me" part is in a seperate sentance, meaning that it's seperate form the Umi condition.

There is a ruling that contradicts what you are saying here.

"[Re: Patrician of Darkness] The effect of "Patrician of Darkness" does not override the effects of "Marauding Captain", "The Legendary Fisherman", "Solar Flare Dragon", etc. You cannot choose an attack target prevented by the effects of these cards. Examples: You cannot choose "The Legendary Fisherman" as an attack target if "Umi" is on the field. You cannot choose another Warrior-Type monster as an attack target when you control "Marauding Captain"."

I have bolded the sentence.

This would seem to indicate that "Umi" does indeed have to be on the field for "The Legendary Fisherman" to be 'un-attackable'.

Don't get picky on the punctuation; UDE doesn't understand it. (althouhg Konami likes the text to be the same as in Japanese.. i strongly doubt that they care about a semi-colon or a period.

In general for this game: any sentences after a subjunctive one, still follow the condition of the first sentence. A separate effect would be before the "If" sentence, or would start with "Also". E.g Blade Knights second sentence is independant from the first because it starts with "Also."
