Now I will mention why certain cards made it into this build. First I will start with the Traps since there isn't that many.
Call of the Haunted - as we all know Call of the Haunted has not been with its comrades in the Forbidden realm but also, it has seen plenty of play that it was actually used throughout the entire year.
Torrential Tribute "“ Some can agree that this card is actually the one card that should have not been restricted and infect should have been Semi Restricted. The reason lies on how slow the card is, of course it does the mass destruction but unless something triggers it, it won't be doing much. It appeared in almost every deck throughout the entire year.
Return from the Different Dimension "“ This card was seen often with its buddy Strike Ninja in the O.T.K "Where the Fiends at?" deck. It was seen for almost half of the year.
Royal Decree "“ This card was one of the most expensive cards in the game till Late July came around. It wasn't used as much as people had initially wanted to use it, but it did make a very big appearance and was the key sealing item for the "Warriors Triumph" Structure deck.
Sakuretsu Armor "“ The one of one trade off that was a miniature Mirror Force. This card saw play throughout the entire year and has yet to retire.
Mentionable traps in this would have to be Mirror Wall, Dust Tornado, and quite possibly Solemn Judgement, all of these card were actually seen running around and quite possibly made a small dent in the scene when they rained for their few week periods, some of these cards still see play.
Now for the spells:
Book of Moon "“ This spell card was so widely used with Cyber Jar in its O.T.K deck that U.D.E. Decided that it should be restricted to one per deck, this card even at one still sees play often.
Brain Control "“ This card was a quick replacement for Change of Heart, of course it was never any better than it since it was always bothered by Book of Moon, with the restriction of Book of Moon, it once again became very popular.
Enemy Controller "“ Another one of the Change of Heart type of effect, that came with a Book of Moon type effect. Up to this day it still sees play.
Heavy Storm "“ Probably one of the most hated cards since Harpy Feather Duster hit the fan. It is also considered to be on the same level of Dark Hole.
Dark Hole "“ Everybody hates this card and everybody plays this card. It is quite obvious why it was banned during April - October.
Lightning Vortex "“ This card is considered to be Raigeki with a Cost, of course it doesn't always do the same amount of damage and some never liked it but upon its release it saw plenty of play, up to this day it often sees play.
Limiter Removal "“ This is Machines best friend and ally and up until October it had never been restricted. It often is the big finisher in Machine decks.
Metamorphosis "“ This card caused mass suicides, it was the reason why Thousand Eyes Restrict and other fusions saw plenty of play. It only sees half the play it used to.
My Body as a Shield "“ This card was seen a lot during the "I want to Destroy everything" Period. Of course lately it doesn't see much play but often is side decked in games.
Mystical Space Typhoon "“ This card never died. Even at one per deck it still saw main deck.
Nobleman of Crossout "“ The same as Mystical Space Typhoon it lived on in the hearts of many players and still does.
Premature Burial "“ The answer to Monster Reborn getting killed and also the reason why sometimes equip cards are very good.
Scapegoat "“ This quartet of goats was often the reason why it was Metamorphosis's best friend, it often still sees play.
Smashing Ground "“ This card first appeared during the chaos period and now still sees plenty of play as a way to destroy heavy defenders.
Snatch Steal "“ The only other equip out there that sees plenty of main deck action because of its ability to change the tide of a game.
Soul Exchange "“ Soul Control and High Tribute decks wouldn't have seen plenty of play if it weren't for this card. Up to this day it still sees a lot of play.
There are plenty of notable spells out there that still see play some of those are Last Will, United We Stand, Pot of Avarice and so forth.
Now for the monsters:
Airknight Parshath "“ This card was part of the Holy Trio, which included Black Luster Soldier "“ Envoy of the beginning, and Jinzo. It no longer sees as much play as it once used to.
Cyber Dragon "“ This card was the reason why Airknight Parshath has not seen plenty of play, with its quick "summon" action and high attack power this card was a quick way of getting over the old ways of the game.
Dark Magician of Chaos "“ This card was actually seeing play till half of the year. It was very popular in its own O.T.K deck and even saw play out side of it.
Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast "“ This card made it possible for people to get Level 7 Fusions out with out the hassle of doing two tribute actions. It no longer sees much play.
Jinzo "“ This fellow was the reason why spells were used a lot more than traps, it has recently declined in play, as has Royal Decree but it still lives in the heart of plenty of players.
Non-Tribute:
Bazoo the Soul-Eater "“ One of Return from the Different Dimension's Best friend and quite possibly a very nasty beat down style creature. It often makes appearances in decks.
Breaker the Magical Warrior "“ This card is used so much that the players that use it believe that it is actually a staple to be in every deck, it sees plenty of play.
Cyber-Stein "“ This card was a prize card and was high in price till its rare form release. This thing is actually a very good finisher and often sees play.
D.D. Assailant "“ This guy upon release wasn't hyped as much as some people thought because D.D. Warrior Lady wasn't restricted, once it got restricted its value "sky rocketed", You can often see this fellow in triplets.
D.D. Warrior Lady "“ Though now a loner, this girl still sees a lot of play. Even upon restriction she was and is still widely used.
Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive "“ A new draw power card that suddenly became a lot of peoples' fan favorite.
Don Zaloog "“ The return of this bandit has been recent with the rise of "Hand control" decks, It has seen play only Half of the year.
Exarion Universe "“ Everybody that knew about this card waited anxiously for its appearance. It was only used for about 4 months.
Goblin Elite Attack Force "“ This card was actually a much better version of its predecessor Goblin Attack Force, with a much nicer defense and more balanced attack power you can often see this guy in a lot of decks.
Gravekeeper's Spy "“ This guy saw a lot of play and often still does. Apparently catching an opponent off guard with a "Two-Thousand" defender and brother fetcher was actually an idea that was very well liked. This card still sees play
Magician of Faith "“ This girl was often used in triplets, amazing enough it also got restricted with its fellow comrade Book of Moon.
Morphing Jar "“ Everybody that wanted this card was able to finally get a copy and has been able to put it in any deck imaginable ever since.
Tsukuyomi "“ The very reason why Metamorphosis + Scapegoat + It = a lot of field control lockdowns. This card even though restricted still sees plenty of play.
There are plenty of notable mentions, some of those are:
D.D. Survivor
Mystic Swordsman LV2
Armed Samurai Benkai
Rescue Cat
Nimble Momonga
Thunder Dragon
King Tiger Wanghu
Exiled Force
The Monarch Family
Etc"¦
In conclusion this was the year of 2005 and hope that the year of 2006 will bring a rise of new decks and new uses for cards. The purpose for this isn't to give you the "wh's hot and what's not" but to inform everybody of the cards that saw play throughout the entire year. This is for the best of 2005, See everybody again for "The Best of 2006" around the same time. J
