Ultimate Offering and the Battle Phase

Can Ultimate Offering be activated and used during the Battle Phase?

Example:

Player A declares an ATK with a monster with 2400 ATK points on the opponents face up Treeborn Frog.

Player B then activates his set Ultimate Offering and then uses it's effect to summon Zaborg by tributing Treeborn Frog.
Zaborg's effect activates and destroys the attacking monster.

Is this a legal move?

I argued that the opponent could not activate Ultimate Offering and then tribute their monster after the declaration of attack. I know that Ultimate could be activated in response to the attack but after that, the next step should be damage calculation and that a seperate chain could not be started. Which is correct?

You were wrong here.

You could initially Activate Ultimate Offering in response to an attack. But you don't automatically go to the Damage Step until both people agree. So after that chain resolves, you can use the effect (while still in the Battle Ste), tribute the Frog, summon Zaborg, and nuke a monster on the field.

That's it.

A Replay is certainly caused. Where has the monster Terrorking Salmon was attacking gone? (Terrorking Salmon is the 2400 ATK attacking monster, by the way, for the sake of wanting an example.)

Because your original attack target has vanished, a Replay is caused.

A replay is triggered, not so much by when the number of monsters changes, but by when potential attack targets change.

Or in a gadget deck using Zaborg. Broken.

I typed more the first time but lost the connection. Don't feel like writing all that again. But to shorten, active ultimate offering, your opponent enters battle phase, attacks, use UO to bring gadget (search other gadget), attacks again, UO to sac gadget for Zaborg, kill attacking monster.

All during your opponents battle phase! Amazing!

That seems to happen to you a lot. That's why I copy/paste a crazy man. (Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, baby :skull)

I've almost started typing my reply in notepad and copy/pasting, but at least I'm getting a lot of practice typing again!

Although I guess I would get more practice if I actually wasn't too lazy to retype everything. Eh, whatever though.
