Ultimate Offering

1. Can I use Ultimate Offering's effect on my opponent's turn?

2. Can I tribute summon a monster using Ultimate Offering's effect and if so, can I tribute summon a monster using a monster as tribute that has already been summoned by using Ultimate Offering's effect?

3. How many times can I use Ultimate Offering in one turn?

1-Yes but only during their Battle Phase (and you cannot use it during your own)

2-Yep

3- As many times as you've the monster cards and LPs for.

It seems that the German Card text of "Ultimate Offering" can be missunderstood:
Is a player allowed an extra Normal Summon or Set by paying 500 LP for each
monster he summons by this effect or by paying 500 LP for each monster on his
side of the field at the moment "Ultimate Offering" resolves? [e.g. 1000 LP
if there are already two monsters on the owner's side of the field]

"Ultimate Offering" may also be activated in the battle step of either player's
Battle Phase, correct?

Best regards

Answer:

Basics of "Ultimate Offering":

- Only the controller of "Ultimate Offering" may use its effect.

- You pay 500 Life Points to Normal Summon/Set an additional monster from your
hand. The number of monsters on your side of the field has no impact on the cost.

- The controller of "Ultimate Offering" can only activate its effect during
their Main Phase 1, Main Phase 2, or their Oppoenent's Battle Phase.

I am a little confused by the duel message in the reply.

I get that I can use it on my turn during during the main phases, and on my opponent's turn during their battle phase. I also understand that I can use the effect as many times as I want as long as I have life points and monsters in my hand to summon. I also understand that my opponent can not use this card when I activate it.

1. However, I did not understand whether or not I can tribute summon using Ultimate Offering's effect.

2. I also did not get if I can use a monster that I brought to the field using Ultimate Offering as a tribute for another normal summon when using Ultimate Offering.

3. Also, can I use Ultimate Offering as many times as I want duing my opponent's battle phase?

Thanks

Yes, you can tribute summon using Ultimate Offering. A tribute summon is considered a normal summon.

Absolutely. It's as if you had as many normal summons in a turn as you have monsters in your hand and life points to pay for Ultimate Offering.

You betcha!

Ultimate Offering is, in my eyes, one of the most under-rated cards around. It has serious potential in a number of decks. Think about this.... Maurading Captain + Goblin Attack Force.....Ultimate Offering-> Maurading Captain + Goblin Attack Force....Warrior Returning Alive....Ultimate Offering-> D.D. Warrior Lady

Or any sim. combination. The swarm potenial is wicked.

Want another train of though? Heart of the Underdog + Ultimate Offering + A Legendary Ocean

I thought that you were only allowed to do one more normal summons or set. do to the card text>

At the cost of 500 Life Points per monster, a player is allowed an extra Normal Summon or Set.

Ultimate Offering allows you another one for each time you're willing to pay the 500LP cost. You can use it as many times as you want and can afford to as the card doesn't specify a limit to its use per turn.

Because Kevin was disgusted when he heard that people thought this as to him it seemed so obviously erroneous whereas the rest of us all (or at least most of us) thought otherwise.
That and undoubtedly Konami would kick up a fuss at having another card's text changed (as we're told they do).

It would be a simple matter of replacing "a player" with "you" otherwise.

How I'm I going to explain to somebody that they can't use the effect when the effect says.At the cost of 500 Life Points per monster, a player is allowed an extra Normal Summon or Set.

Your best bet would be to bring along a softcopy or printout of that Judgelist mailing and then show it to them. Though if you're dueling the person they probably won't believe you anyway and will insist on getting a Judge over.

Sorry, I was right the first time, it was Kevin who was disgusted with us for thinking both players could use it:

Only the controller can use the effect of "Ultimate Offering". It has always
been that way, for almost 3 years now. It will always be that way. And frankly
I'm shocked that any Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG judge would think otherwise.

I was dueling yesterday, and my opponent played UO, so as I had last
seen the ruling, I used it to be payin 500 lp, but he emphatically
insisted that only the controller could use it, and not the opponent
at all. I looked on the netreps, and the official site, and there
were no rulings listed for it. I did seein the post archive
somethin from semtember with th ruling , as I though that, can be on
owners main, and oppenet battle. Has this changed? Whethere it
has or not, would you mind giving me the exact/total rulings for UO.

Thanks

I see this argument happen any and everytime Ultimate Offering is played. Since it hasnt really worked its way into a permanent part of my decks that I use, I just avoid using it.

I understand no one wants to be beat by a card they dont really understand because it could turn out that the controller didnt really know how to play his cards effect properly, but at some point, it becomes both players responsibility to know a cards effect.

I remember when Infernalqueen Archfiend was errata'd to state that the increase wasnt accumlative and ended at the End Phase of each turn. I ended up losing a match because the Judge hadnt heard of the change and let the player keep all the attack point increases from several turns.

This one I just thought of...I've never seen it used before and I'm sure I'm not the only one to think of it but....

Ultimate Offering + Tsukuyomi
This will work GREAT in my trample deck :D

With monster removal by card effect at such an insane level, I too am shocked that Ultimate Offering hasn't seen more tournament play -- it truly is a broken card when you learn how to use it.

I run 2x in my machine deck -- can you say, "Limiter Swarm".

John Danker: I've run UO in my beast/trample with huge success. Funny, I run Tsukuyomi and never thought of using her this way -- thanks.

I can't believe people are only suprised that it doesn't work for your opponent instead of being shocked by the fact that it works during your opponents Battle Phase! A Normal Summon? During your opponents turn? Where in the card text does it even insinuate that!!!!? And for that matter, where exactly does the card text indicate that you cannot use it during your Battle Phase? I always assumed my opponent didn't get to use it, but I don't get what on earth Konami was thinking whe they allowed that paticular translation. That card doesn't mean what it says. It says something completly different from what it actually does and there isn't even a FAQ ruling for it. Even Kevin Tewarts explanation for the way it actually works is "Konami wills it to be so." That's the biggest B.K.S.S in the game. How about if Mirror Force said "Destroy one attacking monster" but officialy worked the same way it does now? How about if Wave-Motion Cannon said "Your opponent takes 1000 thousand points of damage at each Stand-by Phase" but officialy still worked the same way it does now? Obviously Konami just doesn't care.

Anyway this is how the text should read. This is from my errata thread over at Realms:

Ultimate Offering:
At the cost of 500 Life Points per monster, the controller of this card is allowed an extra Normal Summon or Set during his/her Main Phase and your opponent's Battle Phase. (This does not include the controller's Battle Phase)

Say, I have a question. Is there a place where the lower starred members of IGC Forums can post Articles similar to the my errata thread over at Realms? (I promise not to rant like I did here.)
