Victory Dragon

Alright. Do you think if I camp out at Walmart or Target on the day they ship to Stores, I will need a Bullet-proof Vest, just in case anyone gets any ideas?? :-:

Considering that NO ONE wil be remembering that your opponent can scoop, it will be very popular!! I will get a few copies just for collectors purposes, but you know how people are. Whatever they dont buy, they acquire by other means, and I'd rather have access to both the Manga AND the Promo, than just the ripped open Manga....

Mine still hasn't arived, though my friend's has, so I got his from him, but I want to read the mag as well. I think it got stolen?? but the rest of my mail has been untouched. Should I call and see if there has been a mistake?

Can you post the EXACT text of the Victory Dragon please. Just wanna know it's stat and how the English version translated it.

And BTW, what ya think is the best way to summon Victory Dragon, use Inferno Reckless Summon? (Cause you have to tribute summon 3 dragons to tribute summon it. No Cost Down, special summon, scapegoat token, etc. etc. etc.) The only prob I see with that is the foe's monster can have 3 in the foe's deck. You'll probably need Lightning Vortex and something like Megamorph to garenteed the match win.

The exact text:

Victory Dragon 2400/3000
LV.8 Dark/ Dragon/ Effect
44910027 JUMP-EN011

This card cannot be Special Summoned. To Tribute Summon this card, you must Tribute 3 Dragon-type monsters. If this card attacks your opponent directly and reduces their Life Points to 0, you win the Match.

Hmm, the only restriction is that it cannot be special summoned. Does this means you can throw in 2x Cost Down to Normal summon him without a tribute, or how about paying 2000LP for Mausoleum of the Emperor. I mean, paying 2000LP to win the match is even more scary then stein. We already see Emperor/Hino deck, I can expect to see this as this looks EASY with Mausoleum. (Heavy/Trunade, activate Mausoleum field spell. Pay 2000LP, attack direct for match) I mean, it says "to tribute summon", doesn't say that it HAVE to be tribute summoned for the normal summon....

Oh yeah, we can throw in Megamorph. Since Mausoleum uses 2000LP payment for Victory Dragon, if this is legal, then your LP will likely be lower then your foe, so yeah, Megamorph and hopefully the 4800ATK dragon can win the match.

There is currently a debate over on Pojo about whether or not you would pay 2000 LPs or 3000 LPs in order to Normal Summon "Victory Dragon" with "Mausoleum of the Emperor".

If I'm not mistaken, you can't bring Victory Dragon with Mausoleum of the Emperor. You must Tribute 3 Dragon-type monsters. That is the only way to bring him out. I am pretty sure on this but not positive.

Meh, won't mind the 3000LP payment, more chance of your LP being lower then the foe for Megamorph combo with Victory Dragon, IF it's a legal combo.

"Victory Dragon" has not restriction on being Normal Summoned.

If I used "Level Conversion Lab" and rolled a 3, then I could Normal Summon "Victory Dragon" w/o any Tributes, just like any other Level 3 monster.

"Mausoleum" allows you to do the same thing.

Actually no. The text does not say that you must Tribute Summon it, only that if you Tribute Summon it, the Tribute Summon must meet the requirement. Mausoleum of the Emporer does not count as a tribute summon, but a normal summon "without Tributes". As such, the cost would be 3000 LP (1000 x the number of monsters "needed" to Tribute summon), and this would be a normal (non-tribute) summon. Also, yes, if you can play two Cost Downs, you can normal summon him. However, you cannot play one cost down and tribute 1 or 2 Dragon-Type Monsters, as the Tributing condition has nothing tho do with the amount of stars. If you Tribute Summon him, even if his level was reduced to 5 (edit: by Level Modulation, thank you Skey), you must still Tribute 3 Dragon-type Monsters.

Hope this makes sense.

I see that as a "might as well not even have him with the statement about 3 Dragon's" type issue.

The card is completely useless then.

Anyway, I disagree. If you could Normal Summon him, then before they changed the text of cards like The Rock Spirit, Spirit of Flames, etc..., they could be Normal Summoned, since there was no restriction on them either. All they originally said was, "this card can only be Special Summoned by", but rational minds new better.

Actually, I dont recall there being a "if" statement either. like Simorgh, Bird of Divinity

Text
This card cannot be Special Summoned. If you Tribute Summon this card, the Tributes must be WIND. While this card is face-up on the field, both players take 1000 points of damage during each player's End Phase. Decrease the damage each player takes when this happens by 500 points for each Spell and Trap Card that player controls.

It "clearly" states, "To Tribute Summon". Now, as we all know, interpretation of card text is key to everything. One man's "Toe-may-toe" is another man's "Toh-mah-toh".
