From the beginning of the new ban-list annoucement, people were saying this is a more aggressive Meta. I personally agree, this is more aggressive, with the monster base. However, I think if watch someone's hand, and what they set, most players are playing more conservativly. Me, I find myself trying to bait my opponent into over extending. Sat. I had the priviledge of watching several of my friends play, and so I used it to study how they were playing. Some of the best players I know have been holding thier cards longer. Much longer than they used to. So I want to put up a question, is this meta more conservative or less?

The meta is, IMHO, neither aggressive nor conservative. It is monster-based. That's what's new. Now, people are using monsters to head their decks, while s/t cards are just there to help along the monsters. I see more and more decks now in which 75% or more of the s/t cards are just there to help field the monsters, as per Ultimate Offering or Reinforcement of the Army.

Seriously guys, quit making fun of John's age. Even though he's ancient compared to the pyramids, we shouldn't point it out. Anyways, back to the topic! Today's meta is no different than it was before the current restriction/ban list. Heck, we're only a month into it and the new "cookie cutter" is already out and has been for close to three weeks now. The only thing different is there is a much bigger concern as far as field control/presense goes.

OK>.. lets clear this up.... I, My Opinion, is that it is neither a More Aggressive nor a Less Aggressive Dueling Environment.... I think Konami / Upper Deck did the right thing with this Ban / Restricted List.... This has Indeed become a MORE STRATEGIC and CREATIVE meta..... When I first started playing YuGiOh, it was after a year or more of playing Pokemon.... it was fun, but too basic.... I liked YuGiOh alot more because you had to be more strategic, you had to think more, and you had to be creative. It was about out Dueling your opponent... and with the Advent of the Chaos monstrocity, we became waymore cookie cutter, and let strategic. Everyone ran the same stuff. I mean sure Before the first Ban we had the same 11 staple cards in all of our decks, but the other 29+ cards were what ever we wanted them to be. We DID have more creative decks AND the ability to use what we wanted to win.... However, everyone started using the same 80% of their decks and varying only a few cards here and there... Look at the last 2 years of Regional / Nationals / Worlds top 8 decks.... did they vary??

This meta is going to bring out more creativity and is going to help take us back to OUT DUELING our opponent... sure we may be more conservative with our hand, but its cuz we dont have the luxury of Pot of Greed, Graceful Charity, Painful Choice, Mirage of Nightmare, etc...... we dont get to have those luxurious draw engines of old.,.. we have to be more creative, and we have to bring OUR OWN style to the table to win. Literally I think as long as the deck fits YOUR OWN PERSONAL STYLE, you are goin to win... if you can make it just the way you would win a war or a fight, you are goin to WIN.... I prefer to Gung Fu approach.... let the opponent come to you and punish them for it, then when there is an opening POUNCE and finish them off.... The decks are going to reflect alot of peoples Personalities and their sense of Self more than their sense of whose deck did i Copy..... or who did I net deck this week....

I like the new meta... MY CONCLUSION..... It is BOTH MORE AGGRESSIVE AND MORE CONSERVATIVE......... it is more STRATEGIC.... and that IMO is a good thing...

I like the way you think, king. People are now having to make each card last. In fact, I have even made a few decks with no graveyard recursion and no draw power. They operate entirely on what they have. And NOW, they work.

<burn>cough. anywho dueling has been strategetic for me even before the 1st ban.but maybe it was because in my dueling career i've only faced a chaos deck twice![lol] heck I used a Change of Heart on a emporer dragon.[lol again]
guys wait until i figure out how to build my new project and it'll be just a little too much support.

1. Conservativity - There are players that use this and dont, those that do tend to win the end game, heck turn the tides during mid game and keep the start up in check.

2. Non Conservative - Rush swarm decks, These basically tend to win becuase its one big slap in the face and after that if you didnt draw out your Dark Hole or Lightning Vortex you are in no way shape or form going to win. no seriously, it is very very hard to win after that. You are mostlikely to score 3 ultra rares in a pack than win a game were you started at 100 life point.

3. Aggro - oh yea, expect that for a while, and only till the new cookie cutter is made. Anti-Aggro / Anti Dark Realm Soldier will be the new meta.

expect to see Royal Oppression in side decks and main decks.

4. Cookie Cutter - okay, tell you the truth, and ill be honest, Its the same deck from before the list. Take a look at the last list and the new and you will notice that its not much difference. the addition of 3x sakuretsu and 3x Widespread Ruin is just rediculous, especially when they use 1 call, 1 torrental, and 2 Dust Tornado a grad total of 10 traps to about.

now you got the 2x decree player that will make sure the dust and the mst's go the opposite direction. Heck when i played during the last meta, if yall remember " Solitude the motion picture" i never got hurt by any of my opponents traps, heck and that was when i ran 1 Royal Decree and 1 Jinzo.

now i run 2x decree and 1x Jinzo. insanity of course, but thats the point of decree to stop traps and make sure your opponent wastes their spell / trap destroyers on the decree. after that you can beat them up with your other traps.

over all, its just starting and once EEN / SOI / EOJ comes out you will alot of new things.

Why is it called Metagame? and who coined that? I'm familiar with Meta-analyses from my Pfizer days but I've always been to embarrassed to just ask someone "what the hell does metagame mean"? Until now, and I don't mean aggressive or passive but why it is called metagame.
