Will Aliens ever be a playable deck type?

I really want the Aliens to be playable, but they probably won't be until STON and FOTB come out. Espically with the FOTB card, A-Cell Multiplication Device.

Aliens IMO have a lot of potential, but they have too many -1s that only benefit you one time, unless you get one of the big Alien monsters out. Anybody else have any opinions on the Aliens? Or any good idea to help out an Alien deck?

At most, I just wouldn't build a deck centered around them. I'd prefer to use them as a sub strategy in a beat down or dinosaur deck.

As always, note that playable means different things to different people. Any card is playable, even shapesnatch. And many people who are regulars here at CoG just *love* to make decks which other people would not consider "worthy".
This does not necessarily mean that aliens are likely to win local, regional or SJC tournements. Until someone does win a SJC with them, in which case lots of people will start playing them...

From what I've seen on the Spike&Baron site - looks like 'Force of the Breaker' will have some new alien cards that'll give them a needed boost. However, I'm NOT saying that they'll have whats needed for tourneys even then...

...just that they are getting there - s...l...o...w...l...y...

I do think that the until a few more support cards or stronger grunt aliens come out, they'll only be a support strategy; but I do like the fact that others like and play them even if it is only casual play.

Give it time

I'm currently going to build a premature alien deck, just need some of the bigger monsters, hell i'm even going to throw in an Umi for sh*t. I still haven't decided what will be the secondary basis of the deck though.

Aliens need something to deal with face down monsters and backfield threats. All of their major effects revolve around placing counters on face up monsters controlled by your opponents. Right now the best ways to deal with this are

Cold Wave
Light of Intervention
Mystic Swordsman LV2
Swords of Revealing Light
Ceasefire

After the monsters are face up, you have a variety of tools to use, from Alien Mother to Gangi'el; Hydrogeddons to Winged Sage Falcos.

But as of right now, only Orbital Bombardment deals with s/t cards, and no specific Alien effect will deal with face down monster issues.

I have an Alien Deck, however several things i have noticed are hampering my dueling experience with it:
1. My friends aint quick about getting their Cosmic Horrors to my hands.
2. The Alien Field isnt out yet.
3. There still isnt a highly efficient way to lay out A-counters while keeping my alien monsters.
4. It only wins 40% of its duels.

But the cool things are:

1. My D.D. Crow rocks!!
2. Tree Borne frog helps.
3. My big line when somebody destroys one of my Alien Mother cards is: "Don't hit mommy! For that I gonna Kick Your Arse!!!"
4. I'm runnin two Zaborgs for a little control, might take one out for a Mobius though (not exceeding two monarchs).
5. It's just fun...waiting for brain washing beam though.
