With Db out i came accross an old card...Magical Hats?

ok im sure every one knows about the good ol' magical hats, now the ruling question i had was with Dark Coffin.

When this face-down card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, your opponent must select and execute 1 of the following effects:
- Discard 1 card in his/her hand at random.
- Select 1 monster on his/her side of the field and destroy it.

so the question is if you played magical hats.

Select 2 non-Monster Cards from your Deck and 1 of your Monster Cards on the field, then shuffle your Deck. Shuffle the 3 selected cards and Set them on the field in face-down Defense Position. The 2 cards selected from your Deck are treated as monsters (ATK 0/DEF 0) and are destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase. You can only use this effect during your opponent's Battle Phase.

Could you select two dark coffins as the non-monster cards thus having them be destroyed face down by battle or by the effect of magical hats. Since the effect says nothing about this TRAP card being destroyed only this card. Because as i could see it the terms of activation...this face down card being destroyed...would be fufilled. Could make for some pretty cool combo's with hand control. Or with the other trap with he same reading...Dark statue of the wicked..

When this face-down card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, Special Summon 1 "Wicked Token" (Fiend-Type/DARK/4 Stars/ATK 1000/DEF 1000) in Attack or Defense Position on your side of the field.

which could make for some easy tribute bate plus if destroyed by an attack would then place ANOTHER defencive monster on the field which of course is good for stall decks. So anyone who has any feedback please let me know about this. O and sorry if i missed any thread allready in place.

Im not sure on the dark coffin or statue of the wicked but I know another combo that does work for sure.
Have 2 set CEDs ready to activate.
during your opponents battle phase play magical hats and get 2 really good spells or traps from your deck and shuffle them around with the monster.
Then play the 2 CEDs and return both spells or traps to your hand since they are considered monsters.

wow never thought of that one thats pretty godly...hmm i guess that one could work with Destiney board letters, CED and Major Riot as a pretty cool combo. And to the all monsters being destroyed face up, i already thought of that and i stumbled upon Fox Fire's ruling to where even thought cards are revealed it still is facedown when the effect resolves. Because i thought the same way.

Dark Coffin activates in the grave, so yes, this combo is legal. Secondly I would like to mention that the card would be treated as a f/d monster with an att/def of zero so if it's attacked it is indeed face up when it is destroyed.

In short:
-combo is legal
-doesn't work if destroyed as a result of battle

but then why does Fox Fire's Effect not activate if attacked in face down defence position?  It to would then be destroyed while face up.

The card is only flipped face-up during Damage Calculation. It must already be face-up prior to being destroyed from attack. You can activate Ceasefire to flip it face-up to get its effect when attacked and destroyed, as it was face-up prior to Damage Cal.

Fox Fire: when this face-up card was destroyed as a result of battle, Atomic Firefly When this face-up card on the field attacks or is attacked and it is destroyed as a result of battle. The card was designed to need to be face up when it was attacked in order to get the effect. The wording could have been clearer (more like Atomic Firefly's text) but that is the way the effect works.
