2 Decks: Return of Undeads&Furious Ocean

BenjaminMS

The Kozaky show
Hello. This time, to save some room in my signature, I'll post my 2 Decks (Zombie and WATER). If people are starting to ask now: where are your other Decks. Answer: quite simple, I was either still trying to collect the cards needed, which costed me too much, either I found them not usefull enough...

Compared to the previous versions of my Decks, there are some changements. Please, give advise if possible. Thanks.

Type of Deck: Zombie
Deck name: Return of Undeads (version 2.0 of my Zombiedeck)
Author: Michael Stein

This Zombiedeck is mostly about Special Summoning my monsters, to activate the effect of Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower. I added some of the better ATK-monsters to be able to change it to beatstick. As a really last option: Last Turn + Ultimate Obedient Fiend

Tribute Monsters (6x)
Patrician of Darkness (1x) To redirect the attacks of the opponent
Ultimate Obedient Fiend (1x) Combo with Last Turn
Vampire Lord (3x) VERY good card
Vampire Genesis (1x) Actually essential in my strategy for Special Summons

Non-tribute monsters (13x)
Magician of Faith (1x) To return some of the more worthful Spells
Pyramid Turtle (3x) To search for almost every card in my Deck
Regenerating Mummy (2x) Beatdown strategy
Royal Keeper (1x) Beatdown or a bit more control
Sangan (1x) To search for Soul-Absorbing, Reaper, Pyramid or MoF
Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower (3x) Deck-out strategy.
Spirit Reaper (2x) Control / LP-loss prevention

Spells (13x)
Book of Life (3x) Getting my monsters back
Call of the Mummy (2x) First monster hitting the field without directly using the Normal Summon
Creature Swap (2x) Swapping Sangan and Pyramid Turtle, to run over it after swapping
Giant Trunade (2x) Returning worthful S/T without destruction
Heavy Storm (1x) Worst-casepreventer or -destroyer
Mystical Space Typhoon (1x) Destroying S/T
Nobleman of Crossout (1x) Getting rid of the more annoying Flips
Spiritualism (1x) Cannot be negate. In other words: perfect.

Traps (12x)
Bottomless Trap Hole (1x) Getting rid of the more annoying monsters before they hit the field
Compulsory Evacuation Device (2x) Getting rid of the more annoying monsters when they already hitted the field
Curse of Royal (1x) Helpfull: no discard needed or LP-payment
Dark Spirit of the Silent (1x) Letting the opponent waste his monsters
Gift of The Mystical Elf (1x) LP-increase, can be usefull
Last Turn (1x) Last option in emergency (LOIE)
Magic Jammer (2x) Savior against some spells
Robbin' Goblin (1x) In case the opponent attackes a DEF monster who has a higher DEF / in case I change to beatdown
Torrential Tribute (1x) Back-up, don't like this one actually in a Zombie/swarm-deck
Tutan Mask (1x) Protects cards like Spirit Reaper

Of course, I want to prevent a LOIE-scenario. But sometimes, I will need it.

Deck: WATER
Deck name: Furious Ocean (version 2.0 of my WATER-deck)
Deck author: Michael Stein

This is my WATER-deck. It is about beatdown, a bit field control and some of the better Direct Attacks (there is in the world no agreement yet if it is a Beatdown-thing or Burn, those Direct Attacks).

Tribute monsters (4x)
Levia-Dragon - Daedalus (2x) Beatdown, destroying the field.
Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus (1x) Beatdown, destroying the field and the hands of the players
Mobius the Frost Monarch (1x) Destroying 2 S/T of the opponent, beatdown

Non-tribute monsters (14x)
Amphibious Bugroth MK-3 (3x) Direct Attacks on the opponent if ALO is on the field. Always nice&fun
Aqua Spirit (2x) Field control by changing the battle position of the face-up monsters of the opponent, Special Summon
Jowls of Dark Demise (1x) Taking over a monster of the opponent&using it against him/her, bit field control it is (and a ability for a Tribute)
Magician of Faith (1x) Getting back Spells I need (like ALO)
Penguin Soldier (2x) Returning opponents monsters&my MoF to the hand
Sasuke Samurai (1x) In case the opponent thinks he is smart by setting his monsters face-down
Sea Serpent Warrior of Darkness (3x) Beatdown tactics
Spirit Reaper (1x) Field control / LP-savior

Spells (13x)
A Legendary Ocean (3x) Main card in my strategy
Bait Doll (1x) Destroying Traps without offering MST
Big Wave Small Wave (2x) Getting cards like Levia and Mobius easier on the field
Book of Moon (1x) Flipping monsters face-down, just in case
Heavy Storm (1x) Worst-casepreventer or -destroyer
Mystical Space Typhoon (1x) Destroying S/T
Nobleman of Crossout (1x) Getting rid of the more annoying Flips
Premature Burial (1x) Getting some of my better monsters back to the field
Salvage (2x) Getting Ampibious, Penguin and Jowls back to my hand from the Grave, to reuse them

Traps (12x)
Call of the Haunted (1x) Getting some of my better monsters back to the field
Gravity Bind (2x) Preventing the most opponents from attacking
Interdimensional Matter Transporter (1x) Quick transport for 1 of my monsters in case I've got nothing else to use
Magic Jammer (2x) Savior against some spells
Robbin' Goblin (1x) To force the opponent to discard
Seven Tools of the Bandit (2x) Negating Trap Cards I don't like
Tornado Wall (2x) Protecting my LP
Torrential Tribute (1x) Clearing the field in case I play against swarmdecks like Zombie or Warrior

Everyone who has a advise: I'll take a look at it.

Greetings,
BenjaminMS

I really like how you put the Zombie deck together. I had not seen one as a Last Turn option before, only Skill Drain. I think this deck will do very well.

As far as water decks go, I suck at reviewing them. It looks nice but I have to let someone more knowledgable than I to comment on it.

I don't Skill Drain, and I don't want to waste my strategies... About the Last Turn combo: today I ran into a Last Turn when I bought some DB2-boosters. I knew I had a Ultimate Obedient Fiend laying around somewhere, and looked a good idea to use them. I'll test it out next weekend...

gee's, let's make this a major beatstick. I undersatnd what you are saying but i think the blend of cards that he has are trying to play off each other. I could be wrong, if so, sorry BenjaminMS

+2 Bottomless

That's what i can think about now =)

If I had Gagagigo, I would indeed replace Sea Serpent with it. However, I have none. I've got 3 Spirit Reapers... and 2 are already in my Zombiedeck. Sorry Robin, but I can't replace those cards. Also, 2 Spirit Reapers are too much for my WATER-deck IMO. Giga Gigago IS fun, but I keep Amphibious in there because of his effect. I keep ODL in there to give Exo and handcontrol players a 'warm' feeling when its effect activates. I am trying to make a Deck that can resist the most or all kinds of Decks.

You're right Sirch... and even if not... everyone has the right to be wrong. I wouldn't mind if you would make a mistake in such a case. Everyone makes mistakes, once or more in his/her life.

About next weekend: I just dialed my friend. News I did hear from him: he went last week to the hospital, he has a form of cancer (I don't know how to translate it, because *@! Babelfish refuses to translate it)... Cancer in his balls, if you know what I mean. He had to go to hospital to have 1 removed...

Poor guy... am a bit shocked, actually...

Testicular cancer.

But to get back on topic:
Both some interesting decks. I'm trying a Zombie combo today and will post a decklist later, plus the game results when I'm done with the tourney.

BIG changements

Hello all. I changed my both Decks a bit. Can you please say what you think of the changes (the changes of the Decks are placed under them) and what you think of the Decks itself? Thanks in advance.
Greetings,
BenjaminMS

+ 1 Despair from the Dark
I placed this card in my Deck, because A) he is Zombie and B) he has an impressive 2800 ATK and 3000 DEF. Oh yes: and because of his effect.
- 1 Ultimate Obedient Fiend
While playing several times, I saw that Ultimate Obedient Fiend + Last Turn didn't work. Ór my LP wasn't low enough while I had UOF in my hand, or my LP was low enough, but I couldn't get UOF on the field. Or, of course, I hadn't one of them on the field or in the hand.
- 1 Vampire Lord
I putted 3 Vampire Lords in because of the Vampire Genesis. Now I don't need that 3rd one anymore.
- 1 Vampire Genesis
While playing several times, it seemed to me that I drew Vampire Genesis at the most horrible moments. Or said another way: it was a horrible topdeck.

+ 2 Kuriboh
I did get too often Battle Damage. And with the increasing amount of Royal Decree/Horus around, I started looking for another option. Kuriboh WON'T be affected by Decree or Horus, so it is an option for everyone actually.
+ 1 Royal Keeper
The Keeper is better then the Regerating Mummy: higher DEF, when flipped also a higher ATK. Can be flipped down is also a "˜Do'.
+ 1 Tsukuyomi
A almost-staple, this card has about the same reason as Kuriboh: it won't be affected by Horus or Decree. Her 1100 ATK-points are good enough to beat a face-down Horus/Silent Magician LV8/ etc.
- 1 Regenerating Mummy
For the reason explained under the Royal Keeper
- 1 Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower
The Bone Tower was sometimes a bad topdeck. That is why I reduced this card from 3 to 2.

+ 2 Axe of Despair
I found out that my Zombie's weren't strong enough in the most Duels. Axe has a great added power IMO.
+ 1 Book of Moon
This card was missing. To be able to stop some monsters or flip them face-down
+ 1 Dark Hole
Reason: banlist change. I found them (also 1 in the WATER-deck) somewhere at the cardstaple. They are better then Torrential Tribute IMO.
+ 2 Mystic Plasma Zone
Just like what I said at the Axe of Despair: my Zombie's needed a boost. Mystic Plasma Zone gives that to the most cards in my Deck.
+ 1 Premature Burial
To give more chance to my Zombie's to come back (where I found it? In my WATER-deck)
+ 1 Swords of Revealing Light
Added protection for my LP and monsters
- 1 Heavy Storm
It often damaged my own cards, so I threw this card out.

+ 1 Adhesion Trap Hole
Increased security. My defenses realied too often on Patrician of Darkness/Spirit Reaper
+ 1 Blast with Chain
ATK-boost. Also a great effect: if it is equipped to Vampire Lord/ Despair from the Dark / Patrician of Darkness, they don't only get a ATK-boost of 500 points, if they are destroyed, with the effect of Blast with Chain I actually can destroy the opponents monster.
+ 1 Bottomless Trap Hole
Increased security.
+ 1 Call of the Haunted
To get an increased chance of getting my monsters back from the Grave
+ 1 Sakuretsu Armor
This is just like the others increased security, with the ability to destroy an opponents monster. Something I like.
+ 2 Waboku
Increased LP/Monster security
- 1 Torrential Tribute
See the comment at Dark Hole
- 2 Compulsory Evacuation Device
They often came at absolutely the wrong time. A no-user in my Deck
- 1 Curse of Royal
The chances of needing to use this card were getting smaller and smaller. Too small, actually.
- 1 Gift of The Mystical Elf
Often there weren't enough monsters on the field to make this card usefull
- 1 Last Turn
See the comment at Ultimate Obedient Fiend
- 2 Magic Jammer
Usefull card, but Tutan Mask is better
- 1 Robbin' Goblin
Wrong times that I drawed him. And also he was often no help

- 1 Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus
He came like the most cards I am throwing out often at the wrong time. No further comment needed, I think

+ 1 Gagagigo
A tiny better then Sea Serpent. Not much difference, but enough.
+ 1 Sangan
To get a increasing chance of certain card in my hand
- 1 Sea Serpent Warrior of Darkness
See the comment under Gagagigo

+ 1 Card Destruction
To get a new hand. The reason why this card isn't in the Zombiedeck, is because I can afford it more in this Deck then in the Zombiedeck to lose some cards.
+ 1 Dark Hole
Just like at the Zombiedeck: this card is far better then Torrential.
+ 1 Swords of Revealing Light
Just like the Zombiedeck: more security
+ 1 Terraforming
I don't pull A Legendary Ocean often enough
- 1 Premature Burial
This card has more use in my Zombiedeck.

- 1 Robbin' Goblin
Often no usefull card, just like in the Zombiedeck
- 1 Torrential Tribute
Dark Hole, as I already said, is far better then this card.

Oh foo, another stupid mistake USE 3 Vampire LordS,there gonna save you with all the mass monster removal flying around. And Tutan Mask is stupid ok. also take out the Kuribohs to put in Vampire Lord and another Spirit Reaper.Sorry but i'm mad right now at the suckness that is this the decisiions you used in this deck but hey nobody can be the greatest at deck building that's why this forum is here right.

I normally don't get too torked off but this type of response always does that to me whether it is in jest or purposefully done to flame someone. Recently there have been other responses from others like this that have also ruffled my feathers. If in your opinion you don't like what someone did, just state it, you don't have to say it was a 'stupid mistake', a certain card was 'stupid' or even to state the last but not least irritable statement 'Sorry but i'm mad right now at the suckness that is this the decisiions you used in this deck'.

I really don't mean to step in and stand up for benjamin because I am sure he can do that on his own. I just had to state my opinion about certain comments made.

wait a minute i wasn't flaming him [ i stopped that when i flamed you] if you read the last line of my post i clearly state that we all make mistakes sometimes. Heck i'm one of the suckiest deck builders in the world ok. benjaminms if you took offense to what i said i'm sorry ok. [cao pi takes leave from the site to think about what he's done]

You're right at the point of mass removal around, however, that is also one of the reasons why I changed my Decks. When I played the earlier versions of the Decks, I found at that at the point of protecting against mass removal my Deck worked great. My weakest point at that moment, was people who used pure beatdown on me.

Tutan Mask often saves my Spirit Reapers. I meet often people who use Snatch Steal on Spirit Reaper, so I need something to stop them. And I often found out that I had to discard cards who were essential, but that I had no choice.

Kuriboh: if in case of a Royal Decree and Horus I can't trust on my Waboku's and SORL, this is an option. Or, what happens more often, if I got none of them on the field (bad luck or Heavy Stormed/Typhooned).
About the changes you suggest (i am cao pi and DragonS), except for the Vampire Lord, I got none of them left in a non-used card staple, otherwise I would have put them in (except for Nightmare Penguin).

And DragonS: you should look better. I have 2 of the Sea Serpents in my Deck, not 3.

But after all... I'll take out 1 Seven Tools from my WATER-deck.

About Big Wave Small Wave: it is often far too usefull. Opponents who make it to reduce my monster-presence on the field to zero, is happening quite often. In that case, I put down a WATER-monster during the next turn, and use this card to call Levia to the field.

Thanks for the advise... to be true, I've already given up my WATER-Deck, since it is almost not competive anymore. Maybe later on.

But thanks

LOL

saying a water deck isn't competive to me is like kicking me in the nuts...since all i use are water decks...of different types

anyway, what deck is your prefered choice for fixes/rates ?

Doesn't matter to me :D Sometimes it brings up new ideas.. At the moment you did, problem is that I haven't some of the cards, lol
