Eschew Obfuscation
Aparently, at the Shonen Jump World Championship 2006, Kenji Watanabe won using a variation of the Reversal Quiz gambit that involved multiple uses of his The Agent of Creatio - Venus (see below). Now the article in Shonen Jump #11, p.322 (see below-er) states that he only had two monster cards (it implies that they were both Venus), but let's assume that one is Mystical Shine Ball. In order to pull this off by the rulings we have for Venus, Watanabe-san would need to pay 500LP, Summon MSB, send it back to his Deck, SS it again, ad nauseum. I don't think that is what happened. It seems that in Japan, one could activate the effect of Venus without needing to summon a Mystical Shine Ball. How it that so? If this is the case, we have a problem with our rulings, do we not? I wanted to build this deck once, but wasn't allowed for this very ruling...had to go a different dirrection (several tries), never came up with one that worked all that well.
Moreover, Watanabe-san used a card called Excavation of Mage Stones, a card we have yet to see. So I ask you- How can we even hope to compete Internationally with different rules and the opponent's using cards we have yet to see? Learn Japanese and study up on their rules, I guess. BTW our Austin Kulman still managed 14th!! Good job Austin! Onegaishimasu.
The Agent of Creation - Venus
Effect Monster (Fairy / LIGHT / 3 Stars / ATK 1600 / DEF 0)
By paying 500 Life Points, select 1 "Mystical Shine Ball" from your hand or Deck, and Special Summon it to your side of the field.
"¢ You cannot activate "The Agent of Creation - Venus"' effect if there are no "Mystical Shine Balls" in your hand or Deck.
The article from Shonen Jump #11, p. 322
"Reversal Quiz" was one of the three key cards in his deck. The other two were "The Agent of Creation - Venus" and "Fuhma Shuriken." There are only two monsters in the entire deck, so when he activated "Reasoning," he was sure to get "The Agent of Creation - Venus." Then he used "Excavation of Mage Stones" to get the other key cards back from his Graveyard. He continued using "Venus"'s effect to lower his Life Points down to 500 and Set "Fuhma Shuriken." Then "Reversal Quiz" swapped their Life Points and the "Shuriken" finished off Gilberti.
