This week we're going to take a look at cards that allow you to draw - something that seems to be all the rave now because of the absence of Pot and Graceful. Airknight is the granddady of them all.

This card has always been good. In chaos decks, your tributes were BLS, Jinzo, and this. It was a good card before the Oct 1st ban list; it's possibly even more vaulable now. But with the predominance of Cyber Dragons, Airknight seems to be slowly going the way of the buffalo.

What makes it so good?
- LIGHT is well supported
- Fairy is sort of too
- 1900 ATK is respectable
- 1400 DEF is Tsuku-proof
- It Tramples
- It lets you draw when you inflict damage... and thanks to the Trample, that's every time it successfully attacks.

What makes it not so good?
- It's a tribute
- You typically want better stats out of a Tribute than this

However, the good far exceeds the bad. It's 5 star makes it quite morphable into such things as Dark Balter the Terrible, Reaper on the Nightmare, Fiend Skull Dragon, and Cyber Saurus.

It may not be as dominant as it once was, but it still holds it's own. It's splashable into any deck really and both of his effects are very helpful.

Advanced: 4/5 - only hurt by his stats as a 5-star
Traditional: 4/5 - good here too
Limited: 4.5/5 - Hope for either this or Dark Ruler Ha Des in an LOD pull/draft as they are the best Tributes in the set.

I've always like Airknight... Well, except for when I first got one, and back then I didn't quite understand the concept of "draw power"... (I ended up trading it... Stupid younger me... ><)

Just goes to show that Fairies have some of the best tributes... :so:

Talked about then, yes. But thanks to the new ban list, and the popularity of other cards that seem to be taking it's place (cough*Cyber Dragon*cough), it seemed right to review it again.

Extra draw power could be ever-so important in the next 6 months...

Airknight will always be a great card. When left unchecked, it can create some serious card advantage and cripple the opponent's life points.

However, it's pathetic attack makes it very very vunerable to the slew of Cyber Dragons and Steamroids that are beginning to appear in various metas. Gorilla and 1900s have always been a threat to Airknight, and with the apparent rise of aggro, it will continue to be so.

But what will most people use to stop the Cyber Dragon swarmage? Most likely, Spirit Reapers will be THE card for that purpose. But we all know how tramplers love low defenses and that's where an Airknight will shine. If you think about it, Airknight isn't so bad. Get a few hits in, and you can afford to lose Airknight later on, because of the card and life point advantage you've amassed.

I think this will still be used in plenty of decks in the months to come.
