Book of life v torrential tribute

This happened today.

Player A has a face up monster and a face down torrential tribute

Player B has a clear field and is the turn player.

Play B activates Book of life and reborns pyramid turtle and then removes player A's sangan from play.

Player A attempts to activate torrential tribute.

We searched (and searched) and the closest we came was a timing issue on bottomless trap hole.

Following this logic it appears that torrential tribute cannot activate as the last event to happen was the removal of sangan, not the summon of pyramid turtle. Timing has passed.

Can anyone please clarify?

All help much appreciated.

You declare your targets with Book of Life and then check to see if your opponent has a card to chain to it. If no additional chains are made, Book of Life resolves. The Special Summoning of a Zombie and removing from play a monster in your opponent's Graveyard happen at the same time.

So Torrential Tribute's timing is correct and can be activated in response to the monster Book of Life summoned.

You select the monster to be Special Summoned at the activation of Book of Life as well as the monster to be removed.

When Book of Life resolves, both actions happen simultaneously, not as a two part action, so the last thing to happen is a monster being summoned and one removed from play. You can still respond to the Summon with Torrential Tribute.
