DMoC, Book of Moon and Skill Drain

Does Dark Magician of Chaos have his effect activated if I tribute summon him, my opponent activates Torrential Tribute and I chain Book of Moon? His effect is still in link 1 of the chain so the time to activation is not missed, right?
And when I tribute summon him and my opponent has a Skill Drain activated and I activate Book of Moon, is the effect still resolved?

Correct in both cases, Dark Magician of Chaos doesn't need to be face-up on the field to resolve properly. It is also important to note that in the first scenario, Dark Magician of Chaos will go to the Graveyard instead of the RFP pile.

Skill Drain negates the effect of Dark Magician of Chaos when it is summoned. So you basically have a 2800 attack monster with no effect. You don't get to recurse a Spell card from your Graveyard to your hand because Skill Drain is negating that very effect.

Yes i did. Skill Drain can only affect face-up monsters, so when DMoC activates, if he chains Book of Moon, then the effect resolves because the monster is no longer face-up on the field when Skill Drain tries to negate it.

Remember that Skill Drain doesn't stop a monster effect from activating....only resolving. So DMOC's effect activates but before it resolves Book of Moon turns DMOC face down. The monster isn't face up on the field when the effect resolves so Skill Drain won't negate it.

Please remember that effects are not prevented from activating by Skill Drain, only resolving if they are still face up. That is why Skill Drain doesn't stop Exiled Force. Also why you can use an effect like DMOC or Mobius as long as you have a Book of Moon or Interdemensional Matter Transporter to chain to the effect so they won't be face up on the field when the effect resolves.
