Game Meganic

"Game Mechanic" is just a term used to describe the action of a card after either its effect resolves, or, the effect of another card.

For example, Player A activates "Raigeki" from his hand during his turn to destroy his opponents (Player B) monsters on the field.

The Game Mechanic for this action is that after Player B's Monsters are destroyed, they are then sent to the Graveyard. The "destroyed" part is the effect of Raigeki. The "sent" part is the actual Game Mechanic as destroyed monsters are normally sent to the Graveyard unless a card effect prevents this.

Another example of a Game Mechanic is activating "Waboku". Player B activates Waboku in a chain to Raigeki. "Waboku" is destroyed by Game Mechanics and sent to the Graveyard after resolution of the Chain, but its effect is still present on the field for the remainder of the turn, even though the card is destroyed.

Here's an example of where a Game Mechanic can be beneficial and harmful at the same time:

Skull Invitation
Card Text
Every time a card is sent to the Graveyard, inflict 300 points of Direct Damage to its owner's Life Points per card.

Since all cards are "sent" to the Graveyard (once again, unless an effect prevents this, all cards are sent to the Graveyard) whether its from your hand, field, or Deck, damage will occur directly or indirectly from the Game Mechanic of sending cards to the Graveyard after they are destroyed in Battle, or removed from the field by a cards effect (Zaborg the Thunder Monarch or destroying Call of the Haunted).

There was something I readed about Butterfly Elma - combo that I was destoyed by game mechanic or something ?
Butterfly Dagger - Elma must be destroyed by a cards effect in order to return to the controllers hand, like Gearfried the Iron Knight. Freed the Matchless General wouldn't work because it negates Butterfly Dagger's effect before it destroys it.

It cannot be destroyed by a "Game Mechanic" such as when it is equipped to a monster and THAT monster is destroyed in battle or by effect. Butterfly Dagger wiould be destroyed by default, since it no longer has a legal target, but since it was not directly the target for destruction, it would be sent to the Graveyard and its effect disappears.
