Graverobber Effect

SPK

idle mc...
If my opponent activated Graverobber during his MP1, and chose to set the selected Spell Card, instead of activating it, would it go back to my Graveyard at the end of the turn, or will it remain in my opponent's Spell/Trap Zone?

Once the spell card is used it will be placed back in your graveyard on top like you just used it..So even if they set it they still will use 2000 life from the use of that Spell card. It will not go to their graveyard at the end of the turn I don't think.

EDIT: Err, I worded that horribly. I meant to say, the Spell card will return to your opponent's graveyard no matter what. Even if they set it.

That card is pretty vague about that. It just states to the graveyard but not who's graveyard.

So if I understand the card right, you can put it in your hand at no cost but if you set it you take the 2000 point hit, right?

According to the most recent Judges List message regarding Graverobber, setting the stolen card does not constitute using it, as it will return to your opponent's Graveyard at the end of the turn if you set it.

During Player B's turn, Player A successfuly activates and resolves Grave Robber, and say, chooses "Raigeki". Later, on the same turn, Player A successfuly activates and resolves Dust Tornado, and uses its effect to set the Raigeki in his/her Spell/Trap Zone.

Now that it is on the field, does it still return to the owner's graveyard at the end of the turn? If it doesn't, does Player A still take 2000 damage if he/she activates it on his/her turn?

Answer:

The Spell Card will return to the owner's Graveyard during the End Phase, even if it has been Set.

Also, cards exclusively go to the Graveyard of thier owner. Your Spell Card would never ever go to your opponents Graveyard. This is a mechanic that has no exceptions to the rule which is why Graverobber doesn't specify who's Graveyard the card returns to.

Um, yes it has been. In the letter I posted from the Judges List.

Your not considered to have used it yet

Um, no it hadn't been answered, not even in your posted response. Also, setting the card via "Dust Tornado"s second effect and manually Setting the card from your hand 'could' be considered two separate things.

One is being placed on the field via the effect of another card.
The other is the player is manually choosing to Set the card.

And nowhere on any post after the question was initially asked did any other post mention paying the cost for setting the card as opposed to actually using/activating the card.

Consider the fact that the card must return to the Graveyard at the End Phase if you choose not to use it this turn. Graverobber does not allow you to keep the Spell Card unplayed. Face-down it is considered unplayed.

I couldn't find the old ruling, but I recall reading somewhere that a Continuous Spell Card retrieved with Graverobber wouldn't return during the End Phase if it's face-up and active on the field. (i.e. played)
