this came up while deuling today...my opponent activated SoRL and set then ended
my turn i brought back treeborn frog and tributed for spell canceller...attacked his set MoF & set a s/t and ended
he set 1 & 1 and ended
i drew heavy mech supy platfm , summoned & equipped - atk face down
again he set & ended and i drew cyber phoenix , summoned attacked with both (cp dealing dmg) and he hit equip with dust tornado...any way this went a few more turnsuntil i hit night assailant and lost spell canceller... swords we left out (more than 3 turns) since it wasn't destroyed by its own effect due to spell canceller...but when canceller was gone we did not know weather to send it to grave or leave it out - still face up barring attacks since it missed its 3rd turn window...to destroy its self...
we agreed to send it to graveyard and finish the game - but neither one of us knew what was the correct thing to do...

we knew it kept count...but it cant kill/send its self to grave if its effect that does it is being negated can it? it would sit there meaninglessly counting turns while spell canceller is on field... kind of like jinzo/call of haunted scenario....which is important if you're useng treeborn frog...or so we thought... and what would happen after 3 turns then spellcanceller is destroted????send swords to grave immediately?? or did it miss window of opportunity? and it says "while face up on field..."so i guess if it goes to grave after/end of 3rd turn how does it work????

If "Imperial Order" is active on the field you can still activate "Swords of Revealing Light" and it will maintain its turn count, but it will NOT flip monsters face-up or prevent the opponent from attacking. If "Imperial Order" is destroyed after "Swords of Revealing Light" has been on the field for two of your opponent's turns, it will only prevent your opponent from attacking for one turn and then be destroyed.
It self-destructs (like reaper or gorilla).

Because even if the effect is negated, "This card remains face-up on the field for 3 of your opponent's turns." is a condition that the card creates when it activates and resolves successfully on the field. It isn't an effect. Swords of Revealing Light only has two effects. Flipping face down monsters on your opponent's side of the field face up and preventing your opponent from declaring attacks with monsters.

Yes, we know...the question is, though, why??

Well, the way I see it is that it only has power to exist on the field for 3(6) turns. Similar to maintenance costs, where you have to pay the cost to power the card else it is destroyed.
These requirements for their 'existence' cant be negated.
