King Tiger Wanghu vs. Gadgets

Ok I have a fairly simple question. At least I think it is...

If King Tiger Wanghu is face up on the field and somebody summons a gadget, the gadget will be destroyed, but will the gadet get it's effect?

I was thinking it would, but I'm not sure.

Yes, you will still get the Gadget's effect. This is SEGOC scenario.

King Tiger is a mandatory trigger effect. The colorful Gadget monsters are optional trigger effects.

We know that mandatory triggers are placed on the chain first and then optional. So it would work like this.

Turn Player Mandatory
Non-Turn Player Mandatory
Turn Player Optional
Non-Turn Player Optional

In this case the Turn Player is the player summoning the Gadget. Non-Turn Player has the face up King Tiger. So the Chain would look something like this.

Link 1: King Tiger
Link 2: colorful Gadget monster

The Gadget would resolve first and you'd search and add the correct Gadget from your deck to your hand. King Tiger resolves and destroys the summoned Gadget. Chain has resolved at this point.

I hope I didn't leave anything out.

You would still get the effect of bringing another Gadget to your hand when a Gadget is normal summoned BUT the Gadget on the field is destroyed by King Tiger Wanghu's effect.

That's what I thought since both are mandatory effects. It's always nice to know for certain though... Thanks guys!

Correction...Gadget is optional, as Twiget said "King Tiger is a mandatory trigger effect. The colorful Gadget monsters are optional trigger effects." If they were both Manditory (SEGOC), the Turn Player's Gadget would be step 1, and Wangu would be 2. Resolve, Wangu would destroy Gadget but Gadget would still resolve (like Marauding Captain) and you would still get your new gadget.

Why not just put it like the official rullings, for m/t cards called: Negate vs destroy

This simple rulle let us know that, king tiger will destroy the gadget but the gadget isn't negated, its effect still resolves, and will therefor still give you a new gadget to hand

It's already part of the game mechanics with regard to mandatory trigger or optional effects and when they occur.

I think it stands for

Simultaneous Effects Go On Chain

and there's a basic rule for how they go on the chain with the Turn Player's effects going on it first (last to resolve) and Non-Turn Player last (first to resolve).

.... I think.
