Mind Control

If Mind Control is used on a face down Horus LV4, and it is then flipped face up, as I understand it, it won't go back to it's owner's side of the field. The Question is, will it permenantly remain bound by it's no Attack/Tribute condition? and if so, what events would reset this condition?

Also, if a monster without side a control switching prevention effect is taken control of by Mind Control, and then handed back to it's owner by means of Creature Swap, would it keep it's no attack/tribute condition? and if so, for how long?

You can also use Monster Recovery with Mind Control to shuffle it back into your deck. However, you then can't activate Monster Recovery if that card exists in your hand. So it's good way to gain a shuffle of your deck and have a free card for any Discard costs you might have available. Works great with Card Destruction then.

Keep in mind, doing this you never once tribute the monster in any way. You simply are adding it to your deck with your hand and then drawing cards.

Unfortunately not, an opponent's monster controlled by Mind Control on your side of the field is not a legal target for Monster Recovery.

"Unite 1 of your own monsters on your side of the field and your hand with your Deck and then shuffle it."

You don't "own" the monster so you cannot use Monster Recovery on it.

In the ARRJ from November the ruling said:

"If Monster Recovery is activated on an opponent's monster that the player controls, that monster will return to the opponent's deck and the opponent will shuffle but not draw."

"If Monster Recovery is activated on an opponent's monster that the player controls, the player who activated Monster Recovery will still return his or her hand to the deck and draw the Appropriate number of cards."

Going back to the original point:

Does the no attack or tribute effect of Mind Control always expire at the end of the turn? regardless of if the monster is switched back to it's owner or not.

Also, would Book of Moon reset this condition?

The effect of Mind Control continues to linger as long as that monster remains on the field, no attacks and cannot be tributed. Mind Control doesn't state how long the condition lasts, so it lasts as long that monster remains on the field.

This card is like Change of Heart, activating Book of Moon will not reset the condition placed on the monster by Mind Control. It will then later return to your opponent. No attack, cannot be tributed.

For the original Question.

You would get to keep Horus Lv4, but the condition of Mind Control will still affect Horus Lv4, no attack, cannot be tributed. Any time the monster card itself "leaves" the field, the condition will no longer exists. Placing a monster card face-down however will not reset this contidion.

The condition lasts as long as that monster remains on the field, so if you were to Mind Control and Creature Swap the same monster taken from your opponent, your opponent cannot attack or tribute with that monster.

How can you justifiy this?

Does the effect of no Tribing only appy to the time while its under the control of player of Mind Control?

Does Flipping it FD the Mind Controled card Change anything?

Wouldnt the effect of no tribute and no attack end when control switches back in the endphase?

Thinking back to Change of Heart, Regardless of position the effect only lasts till the endphase, unless its Horus lv4, Blindly Loyal Goblin, or Zapper. The rest of the effect should resolve, it just can not change control.

The condition will go away:

When the monster is returned to the original player
or else when the turn ends.
(or maybe when either one happens)

So you will never be able to "paralyze" your opponent monster completely.

What i meant by "no one can say for certain" is that noone can say which of the two situations is correct.

So for example Horus Lv 4 kept under your control may or not be permanently unable to attack.
If you were to give a monster back to your opponent the same turn, your opponent may or may not be able to tribute it for the effect of Share the Pain.

Your opponent will certainly be able to attack with or tribute it in the following turn.

Hmmm... I say the condition remains.

Check out Scapegoat for minute.

There is a "condition" in order to "activate" Scapegoat, then there a "condition you must follow afterwards" when Scapegoat resolves.

When this card card is activated, you cannot summon any monster in the same turn (including Flip Summon and Special Summon). Place 4 "Sheep Tokens" (Beast-Type/EARTH/1Star/ATK 0/ DEF 0) in Defense Position on your side of the field. The tokens cannot be used as a Tribute for a Tribute Summon.

Before or after Scapegoats activation, you may not perform any summons during the same turn Scapegoat was activated. The condition state of not being able to summon during the of Scapegoats activation is applied until that turn has ended.

Mind Control's conditions will always apply until that monster is "removed" from the field.
