Rulings Discussion: Traps and Timing

bishop

Thief of Always
Consider this scenario (phrased as a question) ...

If I summon Gemini Elf, can the chain look like:

Opponent Trap Hole
Player Book of Moon
Opponent Bottomless Trap Hole
Player Book of Moon
Opponent Torrential Tribute

or

Opponent Bottomless Trap Hole
Player Book of Moon
Opponent Trap Hole
Player Book of Moon
Opponent Torrential Tribute

or

Opponent Torrential Tribute
Player Ring of Destruction
Opponent Bottomless Trap Hole
Player Book of Moon
Opponent Trap Hole

are those all acceptable Chains directly after the summoning of the Gemini Elf?

I'll provide the answer once some discussion is to be had. I already have the response from Dan Scheidegger (Kevin Tewart's Assistant) that provides the correct answer to this scenario.

(Note: Those that were part of the original email for this, refrain from providing that response please.)

Presuming it was a normal summon of "Gemini Elf" and going by the rulings we've had so far... they SHOULD be legal chains since the cards activated immediately after a successful summon can be either in response to the summon or in response to the previously played card. Now, if he comes back with something different than that, then we have a changing of the rules (yet again)... but based on what we know, they should be allowed since "Bottomless Trap Hole", "Trap Hole", and "Torrential Tribute" all can be activated in response to a normal summon of "Gemini Elf".

If I summon Gemini Elf, can the chain look like:

Opponent Trap Hole
Player Book of Moon
Opponent Bottomless Trap Hole

opponent can't play bottomless because he missed the correct time of
activation (summon)
you cannot chain anything to a summon, you respond to it, and if player
bookofmoons his just summoned monster, you lost the timing for bottomless

This situation is all one chain, not resolve card "x", then activate card "y".

I'd have to agree with Andrew based on the other rulings regarding the 'last successful event was the summon of the monster', but seeing as you took the time to post this...I'm not 100% sure.

Bish, why didn't you mark this as a "Rulings Discussion" in the subject? People would come in here expecting to show off their knowledge just because they thought someone was asking a question :p.

I say yes, and the first two chains would have a net effect of Torrential Tribute. The third would have the net effect of Ring of Destruction.

I also say we need a hint. Anyone that gives a different answer either doesn't know something or knows too much.

If I were to give a hint, it would be: there are no timing issues involved here. But, if I were to say that, it might give away the correct response too much. ;)

As stated by densetsu_x and on other posts of similar nature, all of the scenarios put forth by Bishop are correct and viable as the current rulings stand.

The last event to successfully RESOLVE was the summoning of "Gemini Elf". All other events have yet to resolve.

The only other thing to note about all scenarios is that all cards activated are Spell Speed 2, so you haven't reached the 'realm' of being forced to respond to the 'last activated card', so everything being activated is still in response to the Summon of the monster.

So....Bishop....how much more 'discussion' do you want on this?....lol.

What's there not to get? Skey23's response was the correct one (in detail) and densetsu_x's was correct (in general).

I was merely seeing how many people understood this. Apparently, many did already. That's great!
