Alright, I was in a discussion with some people on another site. Here are the situations we're talking about.

Turn Player activates Premature Burial and Special Summons Proto-Cyber Dragon. Turn Player responds with Inferno Reckless Summon. Turn Player searches deck and Special Summons three copies of Cyber Dragon to the field.

The question here was if this was legally played. I say it isn't because then you have 4 copies of Cyber Dragon on the field and this violates the number of copies per deck rule.

Now the other situation.

Drillroid attacks Ancient Lamp. Ancient Lamp will not activate and will be destroyed by Drillroid's effect.

I said this is false because Ancient Lamp has a redirecting effect similiar to Dreamsprite. Thus, I concluded that Ancient Lamp would activate and Drillroid's effect would Disappear.

Just want thoughts on the two situations.

Ok, I never said that it 'reactivated'. It was placed on the chain as link 1. It's effect MUST resolve. If it's still attacking a defense position monster, why wouldn't it's effect destroy THAT defense position monster?

P.S. You kinda supported what I said by stating #3 was correct.

For those who haven't seen it yet, they finally posted the rulings for "Ancient Lamp".

And wouldn't you know it. They don't have any rulings about "Drillroid" yet.

I have responded asking for them already...lol.
Why would it need it? I had the ruling for Mystic Swordsman LV2 and Sasuke Samurai, which stated if it was attacked and would be destroyed while face-down, the effect would not activate. We already know that Drillroid flips the monster face-up before it destroys it, so that would mean it would be face-up and the effect should activate just like Dreamsprite and Adhesive Explosive, stopping the Damage Calculation with the current monster.

Ok, so if "Drillroid"s attack is redirected to a Defense Position monster, will the new monster be destroyed by "Drillroid"s effect?

This is going to be the biggest issue with this card.
I would think that the only way to "re-activate" his effect would be if he was forced to begin the attack from the beginning of the Battle Step like a Replay, but since he never leaves the Damage Step, the attack just continues on to the opponents monster and damage is calculated.

ok, I just read the rulings on 'Ancient Lamp', and Dan confirms that 'Ancient Lamp' works like 'Dreamsprite', as it "forces" the Damage Calculation:

When your face-down Defense Position “Ancient Lamp” is attacked:
1. Your opponent’s monster declares an attack.
2. “Ancient Lamp” is flipped face-up during the Damage Step. At this time you decide if you would like to activate its effect.
3. Select a monster on your opponent’s side of the field other than the attacking one. This monster can be face-up or face-down and in any battle position.
4. Calculate damage between the target monster and the attacking monster. The opponent (who controls both monsters) will take any Battle Damage resulting from the attack.

no, 'Drillroid''s effect is not re-activated.
someone should post it on the Judge List (I'm not an official judge :p) to avoid further confusion, as it seens they are on a roll answering stuff.
Grrrrr..... NOBODY said anything about his effect RE-ACTIVATING!! I've already explained this once in this thread.

His effect does NOT target. His effect WILL be activated, but it will be placed on the chain as link 1, followed by "Ancient Lamp". When his effect resolves, because it doesn't target, there IS a possiblity he will destroy the new attack target with his effect.

That's all I need answered. That one simple little thing.

Now, as long as you've (Cropz) been posting, I've not seen you be incorrect on your answers, so you're most likely correct. But quit saying 're-activate'. I know it doesn't 're-activate'...lol.

Yes, ok, so now, for some more 'insight' as to why it Disappears...lol.

Even though it isn't a targeting effect, does it Disappear becuase in 'essence' the initial 'targeted', but not 'really targeted' monster it was activated against is no longer the monster it is attacking?

Kind of like the newly updated "Bottomless Trap Hole" rulings. Even though "Bottomless Trap Hole" doesn't target, if the initial 'targeted', but not 'really targeted' monster is replaced with a new one, that new one won't be removed from play even if it has an ATK of 1500 or more.

If the effects go on the chain, then it would be Ancient Lamp resolving first, causing the attack to be re-directed to attacking players remaining monsters, and Drillroid's effect would resolve next, and since he is unable to destroy Ancient Lamp, his original target for attack, the effect Disappears.

Since he is not re-declaring another attack, there is no chance to activate his effect a second time, and he must continue his attack without the benefit of his effect to destroy a defense position monster.

It doesnt force damage calculation. But its just like Ring of Destruction. If you target a monster by its effect, and the monster is changed before Ring of Destruction resolves, it loses its target and the effect Disappears.

If Drillroid misses its original target when the chain of "Drillroid vs Ancient Lamp" resolves, it cant activate its effect on the new target because it does not rewind the attack back to the Battle Step.

Its a new target, but not a new attack. So, since it cannot activate its effect on the new target, it must go through Damage Calculation.
