Tyrant Dragon vs Dragon Tribute cost

Say my Dragon attack and hit's a Saku, then can I chain say Call of the Haunted, summon Tyrant Dragon, and then tribute my "would be dead by Saku" dragon to keep Tyrant Dragon on the field?

I'd just like to point one thing out, although it doesn't change the answer...

Tributing the Dragon is not a cost.
UDE FAQ said:
You Tribute a Dragon-Type monster when the effect that Special Summons "Tyrant Dragon" resolves, not when it activates. So if you activate "Monster Reborn" and target "Tyrant Dragon" and your opponent chains "Imperial Order" and negates "Monster Reborn" you do not Tribute a Dragon-Type monster. Likewise, if you control 1 Dragon-Type monster on the field, and activate "Monster Reborn", and your opponent chains "Ring of Destruction" to destroy your only Dragon-Type monster, you are unable to Tribute a Dragon-Type monster when "Monster Reborn" resolves and its effect disappears.

i.c.

So the difference is that if I use CotH first and then if the foe destroys my "tribute dragon" then my Tyrant Dragon can't come out, but if the foe destroys my "dragon" and then I chain that to Tyrant Dragon summoning with CotH then it's a no prob.

It all depends on the step huh. (i.e. who activated first. Kinda like Royal Decree vs Traps)
