VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon EEN-EN031

VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon
LIGHT/Machine/********
"VW-Tiger Catapult" + "XYZ-Dragon Cannon"
This card can only be Special Summoned from your Fusion Deck by removing from play the above cards on your side of the field. (You do not use "Polymerization"). Once per turn, remove from play 1 card on your opponent's side of the field. When this card attacks, you can change the battle position of the attack-target monster. (Flip Effects are not activated at this time.)
ATK/3000
DEF/2800

Rulings:

-This card's first effect is not optional. If the opponent has any cards on their side of the field, you must use this effect during your turn. This effect targets and can be chained to.

-If you select to remove a face-down Spell or Trap Card, and the opponent activates it in a chain, the card will still be removed from play after it resolves.

-This card's second effect targets the monster you attack. It is a Trigger Effect that activates when you declare the attack, and it can be chained to.

-If you attack a face-down Attack Position monster and activate this card's effect to change its Battle Position, the monster will be changed to face-up Attack Position. If it has a Flip Effect it will not be activated, as stated on the card.

-Once properly Summoned by the method written in the text this card can be Special Summoned from the Graveyard with effects like "Call of the Haunted" or "Re-Fusion".

As EEN week rolls onwards, we come to the beautiful masterpiece of card-advantage (or disadvantage, as it may be in some instances) that is VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon. The level stars and DEF values in the card text above may be a little off, but after you get past 7 stars and 2500 DEF, you are basically just extra meat. So, yeah. Sorry if their wrong, but you get the idea: He's really hella big.

And there is a reason Mr. Veewackzi is a little large for his age. He is composed of not one, not two, but FIVE seperate pieces. The chances of you getting him out to begin with is rather slim, but should you get him out (and find a way to keep him in play or recured) you are GOING to win the game. What made Envoy so powerful? Infinite card advantage. This guy does all that stuff...and still rampages out the gates with a behemoth ATK of 3000. Oh, and he negates flip-effects. Oh, and he also hits S/T's with his effect. And...well, you get the jist of it. He's a crazy mad card advantage, life point eating, magician negating, Jujitsu raping machine.

However, that is the silver lining. Here comes the rain (doodle-oodle-doot-doo...here comes the rain, baby...). Five monsters. Count 'em five. Do you know what that means? That means you are giving up a FULL FIELD of monsters to fuse out TWO other monsters, and then fusing THOSE two together to finally bring out VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon. Chances are you are probably wining already in that sort of situation, and that is a lot of extra effort (good thing he's so sexy, eh?). The only way this is going to hit off, is if you have already gotten each of the pieces removed once already (by...I don't know...fusing them out once before?), then RftDDing them back so you can fuse them AGAIN and pull out Captain Planetcrusher. But once you get him out, he WILL produce enough continual advantage to win the game...supposing he doesn't get Bottomlessed.

Okay...let's do a quick overview of him to wrap this up:
1) Hella tough to pull out. You'll rip him out of the fusion deck once a century at most if you don't build the deck correctly.
2) Game breaking effect. And you though Envoy was broken...
3) RECURRABLE!!! Holy buhjeezus...this guy is the ONLY V2Z fusion that comes back from the land of the dead (or rusted in this case) for Round 2 (though, by the wording it seems that VW may also be recurrable...). And that is good. Very good.
4) Crazy big ATK/DEF stats. No one's going to be besting him in battle. Except for Lily. But she's dumb, so doesn't count.
5) Long name. It took me a LOOONG time to write this review. I was originally slated for Tuesday, but every time I started reading his name I got bored around the first "T" in "Catapult." And the effect is really long, I felt like Relinquished was making fun of him for having too much text. Poor guy...

Traditional: 5/5 He's a fusion. No reason NOT to run him I suppose...however, it really isn't fair to rate the card individually if the entire deck isn't viable. And this really isn't in Traditional. Then again, very few are.
Advanced: 5/5 Same reason. However, the deck is MUCH better here, seeing as Get Ride! (Roll Out!...ew) has recently been released, and that makes Union decks actually possible now. I would kindly like to point out, though, that he isn't a "Main-Goal" of the deck. He is just a great finisher that is nice to pull out every once in a blue moon.
Sealed: 0/5 You will never ever ever ever ever pull him out. Ever. Pass him on in draft, and just cry in sealed.

Voltron.

Darn. Couldn't make it through the review without a trite, overdone, old cartoon reference could I...

You were so close....anyway, VWXYZ requires a ton of work to get out, I tried using Kahlil's deck to get it out, and I never got it out. <<

I think VWXYZ Dragon Catapult Cannon can be summoned easily if used with the right combos:

V-Z + Return from the Different Dimension/Dimension Fusion

IF ONLY WE STILL HAD Painful Choice!
Use Different Dimension Capsule + Giant Trunade to reset the D.D. Capsule. But one asks y if some uses MST, Dust Tornado, Breaker, or Heavy Storm good you hav the pieces remove from play then retreive them back using Return from the Different Dimension to special summon all of the pieces back then fuse them the key IS to REMOVE THEM FROM PLAY!!!! Have them in ur graveyard 2 words Soul Release remove them from play. i've made a deck and ppl were afraid of me cuz of this cause of this method not having to fear the Bottomless Trap Hole go ahead Remove my X Head Cannon from play so that i can use Return them from a Different Dimension then fuse ur finished. In a V-Z deck the "remove from play" is basically ur second graveyard tht now even the GraveKeepers cant stop so go nuts!

F/D RFP'ed cards cannot be summoned via RftDD or DF.

-pssvr
thats ONLY Dimension Fusion!!!

Rulings
  1. If a monster Special Summoned by this card is flipped face-down, then it will not be removed from play during the End Phase.
  2. [Re: Dark Ruler Ha Des] "Dark Ruler Ha Des" may be Special Summoned by "Dimension Fusion" or "Return from the Different Dimension" if it was removed from play.
  3. [Re: Elemental Hero Wildheart] You can Special Summon "Elemental Hero Wildheart" with "Return from the Different Dimension" and it will not be removed from play during the End Phase.

Dude, two things. One, chill. And two, you're simply incorrect. A F/D monster cannot be summoned by either card, since there is no way the game state can be sure it is a monster.

-pssvr

Of course I read it. And I'm going to have to revisit the "chill" and "the-game-is-not-psychic" issue. The game simply doesn't know the F/D card is a monster, and nothing in the rulings contradicts that.

I think you could have done the review with only 3 lines...

:p In all seriousness though, great review as always. He is incredibly tough to pull out, but I think we can all see the rewards are well worth it. And yes, we can see how much he looks like Voltron, lol

i jus showed u the rulings of RDD so what r u talking about that ONLY applies to Dimension Fusion u CAN use D.D. Capsule with it jus look it up or didnt u read it

1st: Calm down.
2nd: A face-down removed from play card is not a monster, spell, or trap. It is unknown. The only cards that can retrieve it is Primal Seed. The ruling you are looking at means if you flip a monster that is returned by Return from the Different Dimension face-down, then the monster will not be re-removed by Return from the Different Dimension.

-chaosruler

Regardless, RftDD only works as I stated above. It cannot return face-down cards to play, as the game state cannot determine if the card is a monster or what.

-chaosruler

1st im calm
2nd ur not listening
3rd Return from a Different Dimension doesnt state about tha face down cards Different Dimension Capsule here:
Rulings
  1. If "Different Dimension Capsule" is destroyed with "Heavy Storm", etc., the card removed from play remains removed from play for the rest of the Duel.
  2. If "Imperial Order" is activated, count the Standby Phases normally for "Different Dimension Capsule". If "Imperial Order" is active during the 2nd Standby Phase, you cannot add the removed card to your hand and "Different Dimension Capsule" stays on the field meaninglessly, and the removed card remains removed from play for the rest of the Duel.
  3. If "Imperial Order" is chained to the activation of "Different Dimension Capsule", then the effect of selecting a card from your Deck Disappears and "Different Dimension Capsule" is destroyed.
  4. [Re: D. D. Scout Plane] If "D. D. Scout Plane" is removed from play and is face-down while out of play, such as with "Lightforce Sword" or "Different Dimension Capsule", "D. D. Scout Plane"'s effect does not activate. But if "D. D. Scout Plane" was face-down on the field, and was removed by "Nobleman of Crossout", it is placed face-up while out of play and its effect does activate.
  5. [Re: D.D.M. - Different Dimension Master] You cannot Special Summon a monster that was removed from play face-down using "Lightforce Sword" or "Different Dimension Capsule".
  6. [Re: Dimension Distortion] "Dimension Distortion" can only Special Summon a monster that is face-up while removed from play (cannot Special Summon a monster removed with "Lightforce Sword" or "Different Dimension Capsule").
  7. [Re: Dimension Fusion] You cannot use "Dimension Fusion" to Special Summon a monster that was removed from play and kept face-down, like with "Lightforce Sword" or "Different Dimension Capsule".
  8. [Re: Gren Maju Da Eiza] "Gren Maju Da Eiza"'s effect includes cards removed from play face-down with "Lightforce Sword" or "Different Dimension Capsule".
  9. [Re: Lost Guardian] Monsters removed from play and kept face-down, like with "Different Dimension Capsule" or "Lightforce Sword", do NOT count towards the DEF of "Lost Guardian".
  10. [Re: Pharaoh's Treasure] You can select a face-up "Pharaoh's Treasure" from your Deck for "Different Dimension Capsule"; the "Pharaoh's Treasure" is removed from play and kept face-down until the time elapses, at which point it is added to your hand, but it was not drawn so its effect does not activate.
  11. [Re: Primal Seed] "Primal Seed" can add cards to your hand that were removed from play face-up ("Dimensionhole") or face-down ("Different Dimension Capsule").
  12. [Re: Serial Spell] If you chain "Serial Spell" to "Different Dimension Capsule" it will copy the effect and remove 1 card you select in your Deck from play, face-down. But because "Serial Spell" does not remain on the field, the selected card remains removed from play face-down and is not placed in your hand.

Dimension Fusion does here :
  1. "Dimension Fusion" cannot Special Summon a "Special Summon-only" monster, like a Ritual Monster or "Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End", unless it was properly summoned first.
  2. You cannot activate "Dimension Fusion" when neither player has a monster removed from play; at least 1 player must have at least 1 monster removed from play for you to activate it.
  3. "Dimension Fusion" does not target.
  4. You can use "Dimension Fusion" to Special Summon a monster removed from play with "Different Dimension Gate".
  5. You cannot use "Dimension Fusion" to Special Summon a monster that was removed from play and kept face-down, like with "Lightforce Sword" or "Different Dimension Capsule".
  6. If you take control of your opponent's monster, and it is removed from play while on your side of the field with "Dimensionhole", when "Dimension Fusion" resolves the monster is Special Summoned to the player's side of the field who controlled the monster when it was removed.
  7. Dimension Fusion can Special Summon "Dark Ruler Ha Des" or "Helpoemer".
  8. You can activate "Bottomless Trap Hole" after monsters are Summoned with "Dimension Fusion"; "Bottomless Trap Hole" destroys the Summoned monsters on your opponent's side of the field, and your Summoned monsters are not destroyed.
  9. [Re: Dark Ruler Ha Des] "Dark Ruler Ha Des" may be Special Summoned by "Dimension Fusion" or "Return from the Different Dimension" if it was removed from play.
Here are the rules for RDD:
  3. [Re: Elemental Hero Wildheart] You can Special Summon "Elemental Hero Wildheart" with "Return from the Different Dimension" and it will not be removed from play during the End Phase.
as u can see RDD doesnt say ANYTHING about the rulings for D.D. Capsule so plz read this time

We have read it over and over. It is you who is not listening. The absence of proof positive does not prove negative. The fact that no ruling is present does not make it false.

-pssvr

1: I read the first time.
2: The reason it says no such thing is because Dimension Fusion and Return from the Different Dimension are so similar that they thought that a blanket ruling would cover both.

Return from the Different Dimension said:
Return from the Different Dimension
Normal Trap

Pay half of your Life Points. Special Summon as many of your monsters as possible that have been removed from play on your side of the field. During the End Phase, remove from play all monsters that were Special Summoned by this effect.

How can RftDD determine that a face-down card is a monster? If we use your logic, then a face-down monster equipped to Thousand-Eyes Restrict would increase TER's ATK and DEF. That isn't how it is though. RftDD CANNOT determine what a face-down card may be, hence it cannot special summon face-down removed from play cards, regardless if YOU know it's a monster, the game doesn't.
