What does Sponsorship Involve

A "team" at our local store has requested sponsorship for the premiere events. What all does that involve?

What is expected of the team?

What is expexted of the store?

What is the advantage to the store?

Anything else the store owner should be concerned about or expect, or know?

Usually, the team is expected to place in the 'higher' standings.

The store is expected to pay the entry fee for all team members attending the event.

If the store holds local tournaments, and their sponsored team does well, then it has the potential to bring more players to the store's local events.

Depending upon the agreement sponsorship can mean many things. This past year a friend of mine was sponsored to nationals. This meant plane ticket, entry fee, and hotel. However, some sponsorships are on a smaller scale. For example I've heard of stores sponsoring teams with just sleeves and deck boxes (which depending on the player can be quite a big help.)

The sponsored team is usually expected to wear something with the store's name on it too, and it probably also helps to get a team profile or a picture on Metagame, for extra exposure. And yeah, winning or placing high is also a big plus.
