if i had lord of D on the field and i attack with one of my dragons does Adhesive Explosive get its effect or does it get negated beacuse it turns into a spell card that designates a dragon.

Lord of D

As long as this card remains face-up on the field, all Dragon-Type monsters cannot be targeted by Spell Cards, Trap Cards, or effects of monsters that designate a target.

i prolly should have checked your location. ah well. Anywhere nearby that does food?

And yeah it had black and white pudding 3 sausages 4 rashers and 2 hash browns. i couldnt close the roll.

Dark Necrofear v.s. Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8 has no relationship with Lord of D. v.s. Adhesive Explosive.

Check the ruling of Dark Necrofear v.s. Chaos Command Magician. Using the Auto-Card link for Dark Necrofear, it's Ruling #14.

Just because you don't select the target, doesn't mean the card isn't a targetting effect.

However, I do agree with you Masterwoo0 that D.D. Warrior Lady, D.D. Assailant, and D.D. Warrior don't target.

Another reason why Adhesive Explosive targets is because when it turns into an Equip Card from the attack, it's automatically set as an Equip Spell Card by default. (I think.)

Dark Necrofear does the same thing and the ruling it has with Chaos Command Magician states it targets. Adhesive Explosive has a similar functionality that Dark Necrofear has when changing card types.

If that was already pointed out, then I'm sorry for wasting everyones' time. If not, I hope that shed some light on the discussion. =)

Dark Necrofear targets. You select one of your opponents face-up monsters to equip it too. You dont have to equip it to the monster that destroyed it.

Also, Adhesive Explosive has an effect that activates and resolves just like most other effects, which means it starts off as a monster and resolves into an Equip Spell Card.

And... It still doesnt target "at activation".

A mistake. Ones of which I hate making. @_@

Also Ben, I've started getting into the habit of drinking an energy drink every Monday morning. I didn't get a lot of sleep, but I'm awake enough for ruling discussions. =)

no it does not not designate a target when it activates. Therefore Lord of D. cannot negate the effect at that point.

When Adhesive Explosion resolves, it changes to an Equip Spell and equips to the monster. Yes, it is targeting the Dragon type monster at that point, but Lord of D.'s effect has missed the window of opportunity in which to negate it.

how can lord of D effect be missed it the same thing as your oppoent activing a quick play spell card like emeny controler when they attack. also a lord is a continues effect. beacuse like at chaos command ruling.

first, let me correct myself. I haven't ever used Lord of D. personally (not a dragon guy). I went to look at the rulings again.

Lord of D. doesn't negate effects, according to Rule #1. It only prevents Dragons from being targeted by targetting effects.

Adhesive Explosive does not target. It has no choice as to when to activate its effect, or which monster it equips to.

A targetting effect is one that, by definition, designates during activation. Again, Adhesive Explosive only equips to the monster during resolution. Though the act of being equipped does indicate a relationship, or continued targetting of the monster, Adhesive Explosive is not what is defined as a targetting effect.

Since Lord of D. does not negate anything, it doesnt prevent the equipping during resolution.
