Return from the Different Dimension
Trap card


Card text : Pay half of your Life Points. Special Summon as many of your monsters as possible that have been removed from play on your side of the field. During the End Phase, remove from play all monsters that were Special Summoned by this effect.



Can I special summon monsters that in their text have written "this card cannot be special summoned except..." with this card effect?


I'd also like to hear why the answer to this question would be yes or no...thank you!

No because if the card says "this card cannot be special summoned EXCEPT by..." that means that condition is the ONLY way to special summon it period. This differes from "this card can only be special summoned by..." because once it is summoned properly that way, it is considered rebornable.

There are no exceptions to NOMI as these cards specificaly say "this card cannot be special summoned except by..."

You may be thinking of cards with the similar text "this card can only be special summoned by . . ." These cards can only be Special Summoned like this initially, but are "rebornable" (I love that word) through other effects if they were properly summoned in this way to begin with. (Provided they haven't been returned to the hand or Deck, in which case they are reset) Whic is essentially what Densetsu said in his original post. :)

Actually, there IS one exception to nomi. Level Up!

Level Up is - as fair as I know - also the only card stating 'ignore the special summon restrictions! ^^

If there would be a reborner with this card-text, it would be possible to special summon a Nomi-Monster from the Graveyard! o_O

Since the reborn-cards (Premature, Call, Monster Reborn) doesn't say so, it is NOT possible to special summon a Nomi-monster from the Grave (neither is it possible to special summon it when it was removed from Game).

Instead of starting a new topic, I figure I'd post here. Something I was considering for a Strike Ninja deck, if it does indeed work, but I'm not positive. The upcoming card from TLM:

  • TLM-JP023
    Survivor of Another Dimension
     Dark/Warrior/4/1800/200
    When this card is face-up on your field and it is removed from game from the field, special summon this card to the field at the end of turn.
    Rare
Basically, if you used RFtDD to bring it back onto the field, at the end of the turn when it would be removed due to RFtDD's lingering effect, will it come back right after it's sent out of play again during that same end phase?
